Jobs Hiring In New York, NY - This position will work closely with the AMD Private Sustainable Investment Team, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) leadership and broader asset management teams to develop, execute, and iterate a strategic carbon reduction, energy conservation, alternative energy generation, and procurement program to be rolled out across various site types in regional markets and funds. The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in significant mechanical components of various asset types and best in class energy and environmental sustainability practices that are supported by engineering concepts and have accretive value. The position will be responsible for driving program and project level implementation, sourcing specialist vendors, creating policies, consulting portfolio companies, and researching and applying new technologies across the private markets business in conjunction with GS asset management.
Responsibilities include:SITE OPTIMIZATION
- Work with GS portfolio companies and third party vendors to create a plan for portfolio companies surrounding energy reduction initiatives. Ensure all initiatives are identified and budgeted for implementation at the appropriate stage in the investment lifecycle, with a focus on generating attractive returns
- Ensure that portfolio companies have sufficient resources and oversight to operating efficiently and that optimization techniques are fully realized
- Provide support to third party engineers and portfolio companies through regular calls, visits, and touch points
- Identify appropriate vendors for each region that can assist in implementation and conduct introductions and hand-off calls
- Conduct site visits for strategic assets and stay up to date on the portfolio – make recommendations for improvement, drive implementation, and track performance
ESG PROGRAM STRATEGY
- Work with MBD and ESG Leadership to develop standard protocol documents for site-level integration. Identify gaps and create new programs and documentation for areas of opportunity
- Work with the ESG team to develop and implement comprehensive sustainability asset management plans that will be deployed via portfolio companies and trusted vendors
- Serve as the data analytics expert when designing, collecting, and reporting on environmental sustainability; use data to set baselines, establish achievable goals, and monitor progress (e.g. carbon, energy, and cost reductions)
- Oversee the procurement and contracting with external vendors, when necessary
- Manage vendors, contractors and project-specific consultants to ensure ESG integration at the site level and achievement of ESG business plan goals
- Participate in team discussions regarding other environmental efforts, including water reduction, waste diversion, and physical climate risk and resiliency strategies, by asset type and location
- Consult on new development projects
OTHER
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders across the investment lifecycle including the deal teams, sustainability and impact teams, and investor relations
- Contribute to the development of case studies that will be used to educate and demonstrate value of ESG programs
- Reporting
- Track and measure environmental impact; align to industry best practices and science based standards
- Develop, maintain and oversee accurate and tangible reporting at the asset and fund level
- Work with ESG team to identify and on-board division wide sustainability reporting software solutions
- Education & Innovation
- Represent the group at conferences, roundtables and industry-related events
- Research and evaluate market tools and products to achieve goals. Analyze new technologies and approaches. These include, energy procurement options, energy efficiency tools, renewable energy strategies and procurement/purchase options, etc.
- Train and educate key stakeholders through clear communication and strategies
- Conduct peer reviews and research to identify leading sustainability programs
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of the key mechanical components of engineering and experience working on at least one certain asset type is a must. Other asset types is a plus, but not required
- Technical understanding of critical systems: HVAC, Lighting, BAS, EMS, irrigation, roofs, power distribution, plumbing, etc.
- Experience, knowledge and contacts within sustainability and investment communities
- Knowledge of Energy Star, LEED, WELL, navigating tax incentive programs related to solar and other practices
- Familiarity with widely-recognized sustainability reporting frameworks and best practices is a plus, but not required. These include: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and others

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors in Sustainability, Energy Management or Engineering
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with engineering or energy and sustainability
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans as well as equipment schedules
- Ability to perform sustainability calculations (e.g. GHG emissions)
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to make technical information and proposed solutions easily understood to drive buy-in and engagement at all levels
